In an emergency, safety is always job #1
DOUG'S TWO CENTS
Our thoughts and prayers go out to friends, family and neighbors who have experienced storm damage. The recent storms have certainly brought emergency roof and home repairs top of mind for many of us. Severe winds, hail and tornado damage is stressful both during a storm and during the clean up in the aftermath.
When your roof is compromised, one of the first things youíll most likely notice is water. A moisture leak is often the first sign you have of major damage to your roof. Thatís why itís important to make sure you address any safety concerns to prevent your roofing emergency from turning in another kind of emergency for yourself, an employee or client.
First, inspect the area to make sure you donít see any structural damage that could result in ceiling or building material falling. Next, address any slippery surfaces, place a container under leaks to prevent water from pooling and clearly mark the affected area with warning signs to bring attention to your wet floors. Once all immediate safety concerns have been addressed, call Kirberg for Emergency Roof Repair Services. Our professional emergency roof repair crew have seen it all ñ and fixed it all!

Business reopens without missing a day of work following emergency repair
REGIONAL PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

The massive tornados that struck the St. Louis area during the evening of Good Friday caused major damage to homes and businesses alike. One of our clients in Bridgeton was hit hard. Trees surrounding their building were knocked down and the power was out, but worst of all, they had a 5000-square foot hole in their roof. Upon further inspection, we discovered that additional roofing and decking was gone and every rooftop structure was dislodged. Many roofing pieces were found 10, 20 even 60 feet from their curb!
Our experienced emergency repair team was ready to assist this customer during their time of crisis. As a result, we were able to return the building to near new condition in one day. The owner never missed a single day, hour or minute and, even after having a severely damaged roof on Friday night of a holiday weekend, he was able to open to business as usual on Monday morning.

ST. LOUIS PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

St. Louis is home to many historic buildings, especially on the local college campuses. St. Louis University is no exception. We were contracted to replace the roof on the historic Schwitalla Hall of the universityís medical school. The project covered a massive 32,000 square foot area. To add to the complexity of this project, it was slated to be completed on an accelerated schedule during the winter months.
If thereís one thing certain about St. Louis winter weather, itís unpredictable. You could have freezing rain one day, unseasonably warm temperatures to melt the snow and ice, and then more snow after that. Due to the unpredictability of the weather, the roof materials had to be carefully selected and stored to work in the cold temperatures.
As you can see, the existing building had multiple roofs, which presented incredible challenges for removal. Add to that the micro-size access areas on the tight campus footprint, and you can see why coordination was of utmost importance. Fortunately, our expert team was able to complete the task successfully ñ and the building interior remained 100% dry during construction. Kudos to the team for a job well done!
