Kirberg Company and affiliated contractor Fabri-Tech Sheet
Metal overcame significant challenges renovating the steep-sloped, 33,600-square-foot roof of this occupied commercial center – a 13-story downtown St. Louis skyscraper. While the project's demands were formidable, we achieved a zero-accident, zero-incident completion ahead of schedule and on budget, earning the prestigious Associated General Contractors of St. Louis Construction Keystone Award.

The project required:

complete removal of roofing without
interruption to tenants’ and neighboring companies’ operations, with limited
roof access

maintaining the utmost safety of tenants,
the public, and the contracting teams
working on a 13-story, highly sloped,
curved roof

moving construction scaffolding, equipment, and new supplies (and removing debris material) through
the building to minimize disruption to downtown commerce and increase safety (Fabri-Tech hoisted the bulk of the seamless panels on a single weekend
day; daily traffic was conducted through the building)

working overnight (increasing lighting
and safety issues) to minimize daytime business interruptions and prepare the
roof segments for the daylight installation team

performance in harshest winter weather
conditions

value-engineering materials

analysis and timing to counteract steel
market volatility

precise planning for maximum benefit at
minimum cost

Coordination among the contracting teams, property management, civic authorities, and suppliers was crucial to successfully removing whole sections of the roof and immediately replacing them with new materials. | Click for more |
